Nitin Gadkari Indicate to vehicle makers for replace diesel with gas-based fuels
The government of India has increased the number of CNG fuel stations from 750 in 2014 to 6,000 today.
The number of CNG fuel stations will be ramped up to a 20,000 by 2030, said Nitin Gadkari.
Nitin Gadkari said, "The government is keen to adopt the gas economy in India, as gas-based fuel is more cost-effective and less polluting."
Methanol-blended diesel has been successfully implemented in some commercial vehicles by Ashok Leyland, which can now run on up to 15% methanol mixed in diesel.
Some reports indicate that the central government is keen to replace one-third of its long-haul trucks with diesel over the next five to seven years.
